{"id":1493,"date":"2025-04-06T12:54:08","date_gmt":"2025-04-06T12:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.presafe.co.uk\/?page_id=1493"},"modified":"2025-07-12T10:47:45","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T10:47:45","slug":"a-raspberry-for-the-negative-people-and-hope-for-the-young","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.presafe.co.uk\/?page_id=1493","title":{"rendered":"A Raspberry for the negative people and hope for the young."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>From a Pensioner.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, Age UK&#8217;s Chief Economist&#8217;s report&nbsp;highlighted the <strong>significant economic contributions of older people<\/strong>, with a focus on employment, informal caring, childcare, and volunteering, totalling <strong>\u00a361 billion. <\/strong>With addition contributions to offspring, Chancellor of the exchequer and charity contributions approx. <strong>\u00a325 billion <\/strong>gives a total<strong> \u00a386 billion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are now more than 10 million people in the UK aged 65 and over, with a growing number of them working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowledge, Skill, and Energy: Older people bring a great deal of knowledge, skill, and energy to the workforce and as volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Government spending on the state pension in 2024-25 is forecast to total&nbsp;<strong>\u00a3220 billion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, pensioners contributed significantly to the British economy through spending and investments, with&nbsp;the total value of taxable payments withdrawn flexibly from pensions exceeding <strong>\u00a387.6 billion<\/strong> since 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the start of 2025, the market value of private sector defined benefit and hybrid (DBH) pension schemes was <strong>\u00a31.178 trillion<\/strong>.&nbsp;(Yes, a thousand billion is a trillion). Two and half of this amount would take Britian with a National Debt estimated to be&nbsp;<strong>\u00a32.79 trillion <\/strong>out of debt for the first time since 1890.
